Knowledge of Tamil is required
A candidate is considered to have adequate knowledge of Tamil if they meet any one of the following criteria:
| Firstly, if they have passed the SSLC or equivalent examination with Tamil as one of the languages; |
| Secondly, if they have studied the High School Course entirely in Tamil medium; |
| Thirdly, if they have passed the SSLC or equivalent examination in Tamil medium; |
| Or finally, if they have cleared the Second Class Language Test (Full Test) in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). |

- The total duration of the examination is 3 hours.
- Part A is a qualifying-cum-scoring paper. Candidates must score a minimum of 60 marks (40%) in Part A.
- The Commission will evaluate Part B and C only if the candidate qualifies in Part A.
- Final ranking is based on total marks from Part A, B, and C combined.
- Part A is in Tamil only whereas, Parts B and C are in Tamil and English.
- OMR (Objective) method will be used for all parts.
- There is Special provision for Differently Abled Candidates who studied only in English can opt for General English (SSLC Standard) in Part A, instead of Tamil. They must score a minimum of 60 marks (40%) in this English paper.

Exam Fee
| All candidates must pay an exam fee of Rs. 100 while submitting the online application, unless they claim an exemption. |
| However, candidates belonging to special categories may avail exemption from paying the examination fee, based on their eligibility criteria. |
Documents Required for Upload
| 1. Scanned photograph (20 KB – 50 KB) and scanned signature (10 KB – 20 KB), both saved as “Photograph.jpg” and “Signature.jpg,” with a 200 DPI resolution. |
| 2. A valid email ID and mobile number are mandatory for OTR |
| 3. Candidates must link their Aadhaar number to their OTR account for identification purposes. |
| 4. SSLC / HSC / Diploma / Degree / PG / Provisional Certificate / Consolidated Mark Sheet (Required as proof of educational qualification). |
| 5. If SSLC/HSC passed in multiple attempts, all attempt mark sheets must be uploaded. |
| 6. If claiming a higher qualification, relevant certificate must be uploaded. |
| 7. Typewriting / Shorthand / Computer Certificate (if applicable). |
| 8. Forest Guard (with DL) must upload driving experience certificate and automobile knowledge self-declaration. |
How to Apply
| 1. Candidates must first complete the One Time Registration (OTR) on the Commission’s official website tnpscexams.in. and pay Rs. 150/- as the registration fee. This registration is valid for five years. |
| 2. Enter Aadhaar number, email ID and mobile number details |
| 3. During registration, candidates should upload a scanned photograph and scanned signature. |
| 4. After OTR to apply for a post, click “APPLY” next to the respective examination on the Commission’s website. Use the same user ID and password created during the OTR process. |
| 5. Carefully fill in all required fields in the application and click “SAVE AND PROCEED” after each section. |
| 6. After completing the application, candidates must pay the examination fee through online modes like Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or UPI. |
