The South East Central Railway (SECR) has announced an apprenticeship opportunity for ITI-qualified candidates under the Nagpur Division and Motibagh Workshop. To begin with, applicants must ensure they meet the age and educational qualifications as of April 5, 2025.

Candidates should have passed matriculation with at least 50% marks and possess a National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT. Furthermore, the age limit ranges from 15 to 24 years, with relaxations available for reserved categories and ex-servicemen. Applicants must register online through the official NAPS portal and accurately fill in their 10th and ITI marks to avoid disqualification.

Moreover, SECR will prepare the merit list based on the aggregate percentage of marks in 10th and ITI. In case of a tie, the older candidate or the one who passed matriculation earlier will be given preference.

After selection, candidates will undergo training as per the standards set by the Central Apprenticeship Council and will receive a monthly stipend—₹8,050 for 2-year courses and ₹7,700 for 1-year courses.

The Railway Board has reviewed the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) vacancy assessment submitted by various Zonal Railways through the Online Indenting and Recruitment Management System (OIRMS). To ensure accuracy, the Board cross-checked the data with loco-running statistics from HRMS and the vacancy projections in the Indent Management module.

Eligibility for RRB ALP Recruitment 2025

Age

As on 1st July 2025 candidates must be at least 18 years old and not more than 30 years old.

Age Relaxation (Upper Age Limit)

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (UR/EWS): 3 years

Education Qualification

Candidates must have Matriculation/SSLC along with one of the following qualifications from a recognized institution:

Salary

  • The initial pay for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) post is ₹19,900 per month as per the Level 2 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Matrix.
  • In addition to the basic pay, candidates will also be eligible for various allowances as per railway rules.

The recruitment process will be done in 5 stages:

  1. First Stage CBT (CBT-1)
  2. Second Stage CBT (CBT-2)
  3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

  5. Medical Examination (ME)

Exam Pattern & Syllabus for RRB ALP Recruitment 2025

  • CBT-1 and CBT-2 will be available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages: Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
  • Select your preferred language during application.
  • However, CBAT (Aptitude Test) will be conducted only in English and Hindi.

1. First Stage CBT (CBT-1)

  • CBT-1 is a screening test to shortlist eligible candidates for CBT-2 based on their normalized marks and merit.

  • The final selection for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) post will be based only on the marks obtained in CBT-2 and CBAT.

  • CBT-2 is divided into two parts: Part A and Part B.

Application Fee

  • Candidates must pay an application fee of ₹500. However, they will receive a refund of ₹400 (after deducting bank charges) upon appearing for the 1st Stage CBT.
  • For candidates belonging to SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Female/Transgender/Minorities/Economically Backward Class (EBC), the application fee is ₹250. However, the entire amount of ₹250 will be refunded (after deducting bank charges) upon appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
