The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) has opened applications for the recruitment of Medical Officers under the Short Service Commission (SSC) for 2025. Both male and female Indian citizens who have completed their MBBS (Part I & II) in no more than two attempts and have completed their internship by 31 March 2025 are eligible to apply.
Additionally, candidates must have appeared in the NEET PG exam in either 2023 or 2024. PG degree holders can also apply and will be considered based on their previous NEET PG result. The total number of vacancies is 400, with 300 reserved for male candidates and 100 for female candidates. Applicants must fall within the specified age limits: not older than 30 years for MBBS degree holders and not older than 35 years for those with a PG degree, as of 31 December 2025.
On commissioning, selected candidates will be granted the rank of Captain and will receive a comprehensive pay and benefits package, including Basic Pay, Military Service Pay, Non-Practicing Allowance, and various allowances based on city of posting. Age
- For MBBS graduates: Candidates must not be over 30 years as of 31 December 2025 (i.e., born on or after 2 January 1996).
- For PG degree holders: Candidates must not be over 35 years as of 31 December 2025 (i.e., born on or after 2 January 1991).
Education Qualification
The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) invites applications from Indian citizens, both male and female, who are physically fit and mentally robust.
Applicants must:
- Possess a medical qualification recognized by the National Medical Commission.
- Have permanent registration from any State Medical Council/MCI/NMC.
- PG degree holders recognized by NMC or NBEMS are also eligible.
To qualify, candidates must:
- Have passed their final MBBS (Part I & II) exams within two attempts.
- Have completed their internship by 31 March 2025.
- Have appeared in NEET PG at least once in 2023 or 2024.
- Candidates with a Post Graduate (PG) degree do not need to appear for NEET PG again. Authorities will consider their previous NEET PG result.
Selection Process
- The authorities will shortlist candidates based on their NEET PG scores.
- Later, they will prepare a merit list according to the number of available vacancies in each category.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview scheduled in June/July 2025, to be conducted at Delhi.
- Final selection will depend on both interview performance and medical examination results.
Salary and Benefits
- Basic Pay: ₹61,300
- Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500

- Transport Allowance: ₹3,600 to ₹7,200 depending on city category
- Dress Allowance: ₹20,000 per year
